FACEMASKS

NPHET has recommended the wearing of face masks/coverings for children in 3rd class and above in primary schools. They have advised that this measure is being introduced on a temporary basis and is subject to review in mid-February 2022.

The Department of Education & Skills has informed the school that pupils in 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th classes will be required to wear a mask/ face covering while in the school building.

Pupils who provide a medical certificate or those with complex needs, where the wearing of face-covering may not be possible for them, are exempted from wearing them.

In the event that a child forgets, loses or damages their masks during the course of the school day, then the school will provide them with a replacement mask.

Pupils will not have to wear a mask in the yard or when doing P.E. in the hall, unless they wish to do so.  Mask breaks will now be included in the class timetable to give pupils several breaks from wearing a mask during the school day.

Please remember that wearing a face-covering or mask does not negate the need to stay at home if symptomatic. If your child has any flu-like symptoms, please keep them at home.
