TWO NEW SEN CLASSES
The school has applied to the Department of Education & Skills for 2 purpose built SEN classes. This has been approved and granted. Each class will accommodate 6 SEN pupils plus a teacher and 2 SNA’s. A new building will be erected in the grounds of the senior school and joined on to the existing school.
Inside it will consist of 2 SEN classrooms, a central PE hall space, toilets and shower areas, 2 “quiet spaces” rooms, a multi-activity room, a “Daily Lifeskills” Room, staff toilets, storage areas, Cleaners room and an Office/Meeting Room.
Outside, it will contain a large soft play area, a sensory garden and 6 parking spaces.
The development has been out to tender. Tenders are now closed and we are in the process of choosing a design team. They will draw up the plans, apply for planning permission and overse the building of the new classrooms.
It is hoped that it will all be complete by September 2023, in time to accept the SEN class transferring over from 2nd class in the Junior school.
