Home School Hub is breaking through the dark days, like a ray of sunshine and, dare we say it…is there a bit of a stretch in the evenings already?!

So, make sure to tune in every weekday from 10am on RTÉ2 to join the class wherever you are. For students, parents and teachers this is where the lessons will be posted and the new activity sheets will be added as the week goes on.

Monday, 8 February

NEW Home School Hub 10am
Múinteoir Ray will be teaching us how to write a postcard in today’s English class.

We’ll be exploring the heart in science class with Múinteoir John.

And in Múinteoir Clíona’s music class we’ll be making music using a balloon, glasses and some bottles.

Múinteoir Emer will be telling us why breakfast is so important in the first exercise class of the week.

There’s some great special guests all week too! We start on Monday with Dubs legend Lyndsey Davey. We know she can take the heat in Croke Park because she is a fire fighter!

And, Magician Aidan McCann is also here with his sister Molly to show us a few tricks!

Beidh Síofra an Sioráf agus Liam an Laoch ag imirt le bréagán le Múinteoir Ray i rang Gaelige.

Oh NO he isn’t! Múinteoir John is teaching us all about the pantomine in today’s history class.

And in Múinteoir Clíona’s art class, we’ll be learning how to recreate famous skyscrapers in our own window’s.

We’re back in the Hub Lab with Phil of Science today, experimenting with 3D printing and Múinteoir Emer will be getting our heart rate racing with another Exercise with Emer.

Múinteoir Ray is teaching how to write our own Sea Shanties in a really fun music class. We want to hear your own versions too!

In English class with Múinteoir John we’ll be learning all about adjectives. 

Múinteoir Clíona will be introducing us to the life of the Irish historical figure, Grace Gifford.

PLUS we’ll be finding out why stretching is so important in today’s Exercise with Emer.

Coming up in the first week of February

There seemed to have been around 75 weeks in January, but it’s NEARLY over now! This means the Home School Hub crew have an extra spring in their step as we kick off February.

So, make sure to join us for a great mix of fun learning to keep everyone going. You are all doing a great job with all your home schooling!

MONDAY, 1 FEBRUARY

Múinteoir Ray is teaching us science this morning as we learn all about light and how it is important in our everyday life.

Múinteoir John has a furry special guest in today’s English class as he introduces us to persuasive writing. Dogs rule OK!

And we will be singing along with Múinteoir Clíona as she plays “The Name Game” in today’s music class.

We are going to explore how poets communicate with us in their writing by using comparisons or similes in English. Múinteoir Ray sings us a beautiful song to illustrate the lesson.

In visual art class with Múinteoir John, we learn about how the Native Americans used dreamcatchers – and we get to build our own.

TUESDAY, 2 FEBRUARY

Grab a bucket and a stick as we’ll be learning how to make music and keep a beat in music class with Múinteoir Ray.

Múinteoir John is being a bit dramatic. But this drama class looks at how the way you walk can tell a lot about how you are feeling.

And in Múinteoir Clíona’s Geography class, we will be learning about the planets in our Solar System and try to make making our own model of it!

Múinteoir Emer will has our heart rate up in today’s Exercise with Emer and she’ll be telling us how exercise can help us even when we are tired.

WEDNESDAY, 3 FEBRUARY

Múinteoir Ray will be teaching us some reading this morning in English class.

We’ll be learning all about the North and South Poles in Múinteoir John’s geography class.

Múinteoir Clíona will be teaching us all about tessellations in today’s Maths class.

We’ll also be learning all about Nutrients in our diet as we get up and active with Múinteoir Emer.

Múinteoir Ray will be teaching us all about coordination by getting us moving with some indoor ball skills, drumming and even making our own hip-hop beatbox!

In English with Múinteoir John, we learn how we use procedural writing to complete specific tasks such as recipes, directions and science experiments.
