Bulbs not Bonfires

BULBS NOT BONFIRES

Each year, bonfires can cause damage to humans and animals. They can also destroy grass areas and open spaces. The remains of the bonfires create litter in our communities.

South Dublin County Council runs a campaign called “Bulbs not Bonfires”. The aim is to encourage communities to stop material ending up on bonfires. Communities who have successfully managed to prevent a bonfire where there was one last year can apply for the Bulbs for Bonfires scheme.

Our school has applied each year. South Dublin County Council provide daffodil bulbs to our pupils to plant in their open spaces around the school.

The children have put a lot of time, effort and energy, in both schools, into getting several green flags, for their ongoing work at keeping their environment litter free and also tidy, presentable and an area to be very proud of.
