Mr. Gary Troy is our Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing (PMHW) Coordinator. This new post has been introduced as part of our school’s move to DEIS Plus status, and reflects the importance we place on the wellbeing of every child in our care.
Gary’s role is to help coordinate and strengthen how our whole school supports children’s wellbeing — working closely with the Principal, teachers, our Home School Community Liaison Coordinator, and the School Completion Programme team, so that support reaches the right children in a joined-up way. Rather than replacing any existing supports, Gary’s job is to bring them together more effectively, using evidence of what our children need to shape the school’s approach.
This includes helping identify children or groups who could benefit from extra support, promoting activities that build children’s confidence, resilience, and sense of belonging, and linking with community organisations connected to children’s interests and strengths. Gary will also encourage staff wellbeing and awareness, and help track whether the actions we take are actually making a difference for children.
