Our BoxStart classes continue on Zoom every Wednesday at 11.0am with Mags Cross

St Bernadette’s S.N.S were delighted and really appreciate the chance for their pupils to enjoy an boxstart exercise programme with Mags Healy from the IABA (Irish Athletic Boxing Association).
The boxstart classes – boxing exercises program – were conducted as part of the school P.E. curriculum. 106 pupils (not all together) in total took part throughout the whole school day. Each group was kept with their own class bubble during their session in a large P.E. hall, measuring 12 metres by 13 metres. Approx. 20 pupils in each group at any one time were spread out in this large hall…all more than two metres apart. All doors and widows in this large PE hall were open all day to provide ventilation. The boxstart classes do not involve any contact or interaction with the pupils – it is a series of exercises the pupils perform individually.

The pupils really enjoy this time out of the classroom as a lot of their sport activities have being put on hold due to Covid-19 restrictions. In these difficult times, she has done a fantastic job in teaching the pupils a variety of moves and games which are non contact. The pupils always look forward to her sessions and enjoy keeping fit and healthy. We would like to thank Mags for her expertise, enthusiasm and the positive energy she brings to our school every week. The pupil eagerly look forward to the next session with Mags.

Thanks to Irish Athletic Boxing Association for providing Mags, our instructor and South Dublin County Sports Partnership who have sponsored all our boxing lessons – much appreciated by all!
